By the end of the decade,&nbsp;<strong>70% of jobs will require college<\/strong>&nbsp;degrees or some form of post-secondary education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp;<strong>$33,000 is the average student debt<\/strong>&nbsp;per borrower for the graduating college class of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.&nbsp;<strong>$273K is the projected cost of a 4-year college degree<\/strong>&nbsp;at an in-state school in 2035.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. A&nbsp;<strong>529 plan offers your family a tax-advantaged way to save for college<\/strong>&nbsp;and other higher education expenses. Funds in a 529 plan can go to technical college or vocational school, college or university, trade school, study abroad programs, K-12 private school tuition, text books, computers and school supplies, lab fees, room and board, and even student loan debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.&nbsp;<strong>Hawaii College Savings Plan &nbsp;<\/strong>is Hawaii\u2019s state-sponsored college savings plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.&nbsp;The Hawaii 529 plan is <strong>open to non-residents<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.<strong>&nbsp;$15 is the minimum contribution requirement <\/strong>to open an account. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. <strong>$20 is the annual account maintenance fee<\/strong> for non-residents. There is <strong>no annual fee for residen<\/strong>ts of Hawaii. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.&nbsp;<strong>$305,000 is the plan\u2019s maximum contribution limit<\/strong>. Contributions may be made until the balance of all Hawaii 529 plan(s) for the same one individual reaches $305K.
