1. What is Upromise?

Upromise is a free service designed to help families save more money for college and, through the Upromise Schools Program, to raise much-needed funds for local schools. Many parents see college as a necessity for their children, and starting early and saving regularly can make all the difference. K-12 schools are desperately in need of additional funds to support valuable programs. Upromise is here to help with both.

2. How does Upromise help families save for college?

Upromise can help in three easy ways -- the more you do the more you save. Upromise has teamed up with hundreds of great companies to offer rewards on your everyday spending on gas, groceries, online shopping and more. Upromise also helps you get your family and friends involved so that their everyday spending can contribute -- automatically. All of this can then jump-start families to consider saving and investing in their own college savings plans.

3. How does Upromise help schools raise funds?

The new Upromise Schools Program allows schools to raise much needed funds while helping parents start down the important path of saving for college. There are two ways that your school can earn funds:

  • Bonus Programs- Upromise and participating companies will offer bonuses to schools when linked members participate in certain aspects of the Upromise service.
  • Shared Rewards- Upromise members can allocate any or all of the rewards they earn from the Upromise rewards service to your school.

4. How successful is the Upromise program?

With over 7 million members enrolled, Upromise has become the #1 private source of college funding in America.

5. What companies participate in the Upromise service?

Hundreds of leading companies participate in Upromise. You can earn Upromise rewards:
  • At 40,000+ retail stores and services locations
  • At 23,000+ grocery and drug stores
  • At McDonald's® and 8,000+ other participating restaurants
  • With 550+ leading online retailers
  • And more!

6. What is the Upromise Schools Program?

This exciting and powerful program can help raise hundreds - even thousands - of dollars for vital programs at your K-12 school, while also helping parents save for college.

11. How long will this funding program run at my school?

The Upromise Schools Program is a long-term funding program. Once your school is enrolled, you'll be able to raise funds year after year! There's no need to re-enroll from year to year.

12. What information do I need to enroll and get started?

Enrolling your school to raise funds for years to come through the Upromise Schools Program takes just a few minutes. In addition to basic information about you and your school, you'll want to have your school's Tax-ID handy.

13. When can my school offer this program?

If authorized to do so by your school, you can get started by enrolling your school in the program right now. Once your school is enrolled, you'll have access to all the turnkey materials and resources you need to begin promoting the program to parents at your school.

14. What do I do if I can't find my school on your website?

We have tried to list all K-12 schools nationally, but we may have missed a few. If your school is not listed, please let us know by completing the information on this page. We will verify the information you provide and add your school to our database so that you can proceed with the online school enrollment process. Please allow five business days for your school to be added to our database.

We expect to share the name of each school's Coordinator with members who link to the school. We will also share the coordinator name in the event that someone tries to enroll a school that is already participating.

Here is the specific breakdown of First Time Bonus opportunities:
  • Activate their Upromise account - Your school receives $3 the first time a linked member activates their Upromise membership by registering a credit, debit, grocery, or drugstore card.
  • Shop online - Your school receives $5 from Upromise the first time a linked member earns a contribution for shopping online through Upromise

Participating schools will only be compensated for one Member per household. In addition, Bonuses will only be credited to a participating school if the school is linked to the Member's Upromise account at the time the Bonuses are credited. If a Member is linked to multiple schools at the time when Bonuses are credited, such Bonuses will be divided evenly among all linked participating schools.

31. What happens if the School Coordinator responsibilities need to be transferred from one individual to another?

No problem. You will be asked to enter the new coordinator's name and contact information. Then, give the new coordinator your School ID and Password so that s/he can log in to the account. The first time the new coordinator logs in to the Coordinator Resource Center, they will be asked to reset the account password and security question.
