General

This sounds too good to be true. What's it going to cost me?

With Upromise you’ll be earning cash back and saving for college while buying and doing the things you would anyway. There are no costs or fees other than what you’re buying.

You’ll just need to make some simple changes to how you buy things, like starting your online shopping at Upromise.com or using the Upromise MasterCard®.

The cash back you earn comes from Upromise partners—online stores, restaurants, grocery stores, drug stores, travel sites, and more—who give a percentage of whatever you spend with them, back to you. Why? Two reasons.

  • They believe in the power of education.
  • It's good business; through Upromise, they develop relationships with our members who are motivated to choose them.

Who can be a Upromise member?

Any U.S. citizen or person living in the U.S., or its territories, who’s of legal age in his or her state of residency (generally 18 to 21, depending on the state) can be a Upromise member.

How much can I earn? Is there a limit?

There’s no limit to how much you can earn. Some members are earning at least $1,000 a year.1 The more ways you use Upromise—shopping online through Upromise.com, paying with the Upromise MasterCard®, opening a High-Yield Savings Account—the more ways you can grow your college savings.

Do I get charged higher prices from Upromise partners in order to get the cash back?

No. The prices are the same for everyone; they’re not marked up for Upromise members. Plus, Upromise members can get exclusive special offers and free shipping deals that non-members don’t.

How does Upromise keep my credit card information private and secure?

Your security and privacy are very important to us.

We protect your data by

  • Monitoring 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

How do you ensure the safety of my password?

Upromise has developed a set of security protections to ensure that your username and password remain secure. We recommend that you choose a password that will be difficult for others to guess; avoid using obvious or easily accessed data such as your name, initials, Social Security number, mother's maiden name, phone number, address, family birthdays, family names, pets, or any combination of the previous. We emphasize the importance of choosing a unique and secure password to help ensure your protection. Upromise will never contact you to solicit your username or password. Never provide them to anyone.
