1. How do I link to a school?

Linking a participating school to your Upromise account is easy. Simply:

  1. Login to your Upromise account.
  2. Then select the "Link a School" option located under "Upromise Schools" on the left hand side of the page.
  3. Follow the prompts to find and link to your school.

2. What if my school doesn't participate?

In order to link to a school, your school must first be enrolled in the Upromise Schools Program. If your school does not participate, you can download information about how to get your school involved. You can also register to receive an email notification when your school enrolls.

3. How do I register my credit cards with Upromise? Can I enter my spouse's credit cards?

To register one or more of your credit cards, log in to your account, and then enter in the necessary information. Please be careful to enter your name and billing address exactly as they appear on your credit card statement. You'll automatically get college savings at hundreds of participating companies when you shop with your registered credit cards.

Please note that you may register credit cards only if you are authorized to do so by the account holder (the credit card statement is in your name). If your spouse also has a credit card issued from your account and your card numbers are the SAME, both cards are automatically registered when one card is registered with Upromise. If the numbers on the cards are different, you will need to register each card separately.

4. How do I register my grocery or drugstore cards?

To register your grocery and drugstore cards, simply:

  1. Visit the Grocery & Drug section of the Upromise website (you'll find this link in the blue navigation bar at the top of your screen). You'll be prompted to log in.
  2. After logging in, click on the big yellow button at the top of the page that says "Register Now"
  3. Follow the instructions to register your grocery and drugstore cards and find participating grocery and drug stores in your area.

5. How can I get college savings by shopping online?

Follow these steps and you will earn your rewards automatically:

  1. Start by going to upromise.com/shop.
  2. Then, search for a particular product or online retailer using the Search Tool - or pick an online retailer by category.
  3. When you find what your looking for, click "Buy It" or click on the online retailer's logo, log in if prompted, and complete your shopping. For a majority of online retailers, you don't even need to pay with a card you have registered with Upromise to get your college savings.

In order to ensure you get your college savings, do not go directly to the retailer's website. The retailer will know you're a Upromise member only if you click through from upromise.com/shop.

Your contribution will be processed and posted within approximately 10 to 45 business days after you receive your purchase.

6. How do I earn Upromise rewards when I dine out?

It's easy to save for college with Upromise Dining by Rewards Network.

Here's how it works:

  1. Find a restaurant online at upromise.com - just follow the prompts to choose a restaurant name, cuisine, etc.
  2. Dine when the restaurant is offering college savings and pay for your meal using a credit card you have registered with Upromise Dining.
  3. Get up to 8% of your total bill back as college savings!

7. Do I need to have a Citi® Upromise® Card to participate in the Upromise service?

No, you can participate in the Upromise program without applying for or having the Citi Upromise Card.

  • When you get and use the card within 90 days of first linking your Upromise Account to a school Account, you can earn a School Bonus of $20.00*
  • In addition, you can earn 10% for college on thousands of grocery and drugstore items and 2% on gas at Exxon and Mobil locations. Plus, you can save 1% for college everywhere you shop, every day.

8. How do I set my allocations to my future students and schools?

You will be given the opportunity to set allocations for your future student, participating school, or the future students of a relative or friend when you add them to your Upromise account. You can change or update allocations at anytime, to do so, simply:

  1. Log In to your Upromise Account.
  2. Choose the "Change Allocations" link from the Profile section on the left hand side of your account
  3. Follow the instructions to change your allocations and click "Submit".

If your Available Total cannot be divided evenly according to the percentages you have set, the leftover amount will be displayed as Unallocated.

9. When should I change my allocations?

You can change your allocations for any reason at any time.

You should review your allocations whenever you add or remove a future student, link a participating school to your account, or elect to save for a relative or friend's future student. Also, you may want to change allocations depending on your future student's age and how much you have already saved.

Rewards can accumulate in your Upromise account even if you don't allocate a percentage of your savings to a future student or participating school. However, until you allocate your rewards for a future student, participating school, or 529, available funds cannot be periodically transferred.

10. What if my child changes schools?

If your child's new school participates in the Upromise Schools Program, you can link your Upromise account to that school. If you no longer wish to support your child's old school, you may change your allocations for that school to 0% and/or remove that school from your linked schools. It is important to note, however, that if you remove a linked school from your Upromise account, you will no longer be able to view the historical account transactions relating to that school. School Bonus Funds that you earn will be divided evenly among all schools linked to your Upromise account, regardless of your allocations.

11. What if I no longer want to give to my school?

If you no longer wish to support a school, you may change your allocations for that school to 0% and/or remove that school from your linked schools. To remove the school from your account completely, you can select "remove" from the View Linked Schools page in the My Account section of the Upromise website. However, if you remove a linked school, you will no longer be able to view the historical account transactions relating to that school. School Bonus Funds that you earn will be divided evenly among all schools linked to your Upromise account, regardless of your allocations.

12. What if my child graduates?

You can continue to support your child's old school if you wish, or, if your child's new school participates in the Upromise Schools Program, you can link your Upromise account to that school. If you no longer wish to support your child's old school, you may change your allocations to that school to 0% and/or remove that school from your linked schools. It is important to note, however, that if you remove a linked school from your Upromise account, you will no longer be able to view the historical account transactions relating to that school. School Bonus Funds that you earn will be divided evenly among all schools linked to your Upromise account, regardless of your allocations.

13. What if I close my Upromise account?

If you close your Upromise account, the available funds in your account are yours to keep. If you have pending activity in your account, we will disburse those rewards via check to the name and address listed in your Upromise Profile as they become available. Should you have future students, participating schools, or future students of relatives and friends linked to your Upromise account, our Customer Services representatives will work with you to transfer any remaining funds to your future students or schools before the account is closed.

16. Can I save for multiple schools?
